Now the formatting, font, coloring, etc are all subject to MUCH change at the hands of our awesome graphic artist, Kelly Poe, but this will give you an idea……  So the purpose here is to help shape the listeners thoughts about each section of the EP.  Instead of trying to write something I thought about finding old quotes that resonated with me when I thought about the Prelude, Part one, Interlude, Part Two, and Postlude tracks……

I hope this perks your interest a little.  😉

the needle ep :: an extended play album in two parts
by scarlet|snow

:: prelude ::
I can endure my own despair, but not another’s hope. ~ William Walsh (c 1680)

part one
The real problem is not why some pious, humble, believing people suffer,
but why some do not.
~ C. S. Lewis

:: interlude ::
Our fading spring is in dull winter lost.
Since then the Night hath hurl’d / Darkness, Love’s shade,
Over its enemy the Day, and made
The world just such a blind and shapeless thing
As ’twas before light did from darkness spring,
Let us employ its treasure / And make shade pleasure:
~ Jasper Mayne (c. 1650)

part two
“The enemy of my enemy is my friend” ~ Arabian proverb

:: postlude ::
“All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost;
the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring;
renewed shall be blade that was broken, the crownless again shall be king.”
~ J. R. R. Tolkien

We have a final mix.

Hey guys,

Just letting you know that we have the final mix of The Needle EP.  It has exceeded all of my expectations.  I think that you will all be in for a real surprise and a treat when you get to hear it in its entirety.  I am so tempted to just put the whole thing up for your listening pleasure, but I have to resist!  I hope to have it mastered in the next couple of weeks and we are currently working on the art.  I think that the theme of the EP is going to translate so well.  I hope you enjoy it.  Be sure to check back regularly as this site will soon change to the free download site for the whole EP.

Here is the current front runner for the CD cover.

Are you ready for your medicine???

Bandage “Rough Mix”

Well the CD is winding down.  Tracking is done.  Vocals are done.  The mixing is in progress.  We need to settle on some of the CD art work and design and then ship the mixed tracks off to Nashville to be mastered.  This whole EP process has been so much fun and so much work, mixed with alot of waiting.  I hope that you have enjoyed the posts and the music, and even moreso, that you enjoy the EP when it’s released.  Don’t forget that it will be available for free download here at

So this song is Bandage.   It’s possibly going to be track 2 on the EP.  Hope you enjoy it.

Slide Reference Mix

As promised, here’s another tune fresh from the studio. Still only a reference mix, these are the vocals that Suzanne just finished tracking. There is alot of experimental guitar and keyboards in this song. Currently they are up loud in the mix so we can hear them (and remember what the heck we played). In the final version, they will be a little more subtle.

Enjoy. Leave a comment.

A Needle in the Grass is No Good

So I don’t like to toot our own horn.  I’m not really like that.  But last night, around midnight, Suzanne came home from the studio.  She and Chris had finished tracking the vocals for “A Needle in the Grass is No Good.”  The vocals on this song completely blow me away.  They give me goose bumps.  Be sure to listen for the note that measured on the Richter Scale last night when Suzanne sang it.  It’s just at the end of the bridge, just after the “Rescue me from myself” lines.”  I am so excited about this project, especially after hearing this track.  Again, this is a reference mix and no where near what the finished product will sound like, but I thought this preview was definitely worth sharing.  I hope you enjoy.
